2017 SOFTBALL ROCKS!   -  WINTER SOFTBALL CLINICS FOR GIRLS IN GRADES 4 - 8

These clinics will focus on practicing proper form for throwing, fielding and batting.  Each week there will be a focus skill and music to help get the girls pumped up for the softball season.   This clinic is run by Emily Hunt, Wellesley Varsity Softball coach with assistance from high school players.

Dates:  Wesnesdays: January 11, 25  |   February 1, 8, 15  |   March 1, 8, 15 (snow date 3/22) 

Location:  Hardy Elementary School gym
Time:  6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Cost: $150 for all 8 sessions
All attendees should report to the gym 10 minutes prior to the start of the clinic with a glove, a water bottle, sneakers and comfortable clothing.

 

PRE-SEASON INSTRUCTIONAL SOFTBALL CLINICS FOR GIRLS IN GRADES K - 3

These clinics will be designed to teach and improve softball fielding, base-running and batting skills through group instruction and fun drills. Preseason is a good time for players in this age group to work on softball fundamentals.  Instruction by Wellesley High School players with oversight by experienced parent coaches.

Dates:  Saturday, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1
Location:  Upham Elementary School gym
Time:  10-11:30 am
Cost: $85 for all 5 sessions
All attendees should report to the gym 10 minutes prior to the start of the clinic with a glove, a water bottle, sneakers and comfortable clothing.

NEW in 2017! PRE-SEASON PITCHING CLINIC FOR JUNIOR LEAGUE (4 & 5 GRADE) & SENIOR LEAGUE (6, 7, 8 GRADE) SOFTBALL PLAYERS AT HARDY SCHOOL

Join us for Wellesley’s first town SOFTBALL PRE-SEASON  PITCHING CLINICS. These 6-week clinics will be run by veteran softball pitching instructors Brandice Balschmiter, from Planet Fastpitch, who was a nationally-ranked D-1 pitcher in college, and Alison Herstine, a private instructor.  The clinics will be overseen by WHS Varsity Softball Head Coach Emily Hunt. The instruction will focus on proper windmill technique and repetition to prepare for the upcoming season. Wellesley Junior League & Senior League softball players in grades 4 and above are invited to attend. Pitchers are encouraged to bring their own catchers – either another player or an adult.

Dates:  Sunday, March 5, 12, 19, 26 & April 2, 9
Location:  Hardy Elementary School gym
Time:  1 hour sessions (see below)
Cost: $150 for all 6 sessions

Beginners  |  2-3 PM Instructor is Alison Herstine. This class is for players in grades 4 & 5 and new to pitching or have had limited experience pitching in games. Introduction is beginning windmill technique. 

Intermediate  |  3-4 PM Instructors are Brandice Balschmiter & Alison Herstine. This class is designed for experienced Junior League pitchers and pitchers in the Senior League and will fully train the fundamentals of the pitching motion. Instruction will focus on creating a fluid and efficient motion that promotes speed, spin and arm health.

Advanced  |  4-5 PM  Instructor is Brandice Balschmiter. This class is for experienced pitchers in Grades 6 and above. The curriculum for the class is designed to enhance the fundamentals of the pitching motion that create higher levels of speed and spin while building throwing patterns that reduce injury rates. It will address plate strategy, location, spin and off-speed pitches.

2017 PRE-SEASON HITTING & FIELDING CLINICS FOR JUNIOR LEAGUE (4 & 5 GRADE) & SENIOR LEAGUE (6 - 8 GRADE) SOFTBALL PLAYERS AT FROZEN ROPES TRAINING FACILITY IN NATICK

JUNIOR LEAGUE (4 & 5 GRADE) PLAYERS:

Hitting & Fielding Clinic:  6 sessions;  90 minutes each session, beginning at 3:45pm on the following Sunday afternoons: March 5, 12, 19, 25 and April 2 & 9.  3:45-5:00pm.  Batting instruction will include stations to break down different parts of the swing in order to enhance contact efficiency, improve power and learn bunting. Fielding instruction will focus on the ready position, glove and hand movements and throwing.
The fee for all 6 six sessions is $120The hitting & fielding clinic will be limited to 30 girls with a 3 person minimum.

SENIOR LEAGUE (6, 7, 8 GRADE) PLAYERS:

Hitting & Fielding Clinic:  6 sessions; 60 minutes each session, beginning at 5:00 PM on the following Sunday afternoons:  March, 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2 & 9.  5:00-6:15pm.  Batting instruction will include stations to break down different parts of the swing in order to enhance contact efficiency, improve power and perfect bunting. Fielding Instruction will focus on the ready position glove and hand movements and throwing.
The fee for all 6 six sessions is $120 The hitting & fielding clinic will be limited to 30 girls with a 3 girl minimum.
